General Medical Services (GMS) Contract

In accordance with current Welsh Assembly Government instructions the Fairwater Health Centre has a contract with the Cardiff Local Health Board (LHB) to provide enhanced services to patients and hold details of the primary medical services in the area and may be contacted at:

We have been commissioned by the Cardiff Local Health Board (LHB) to provide the following services:

  • Minor surgery
  • INR (Warfarin management)
  • Mental Health care
  • Learning Difficulties care

Access standards
The Practice aims to comply with the NHS Wales access standards for GP practices announced by the Minister for Health and Social Services in March 2019.  These standards are:

  • People receive a prompt responce to their contact with a GP practice via telephone
  • Practices have the appropriate telephony system in place to support the needs of the people, avoiding the need to call back multiple times
  • People receive bilingual (Welsh and English) information on local and energency services when contacting a practice
  • People can use a range of options to contact their GP practice and to make an appointment
  • People are able to emai la practice to request anon-urgent consultation or a call back
  • Please are able to access infromation on how to get help and advice
  • People receive the right care at the right time in a joined up way that is based on their needs
  • Practices understand the needs of their patients and use this information to anticipate the demand on its services.
